Bio
Tara Moneka is a Black Iraqi artist and singer, blending Afro-Sufi, Arabic, and Swahili music into a unique sound that transcends borders. Born in Baghdad, she sings in Arabic, English, Urdu, Spanish, Turkish, and other languages, while her music spans Jazz, Rock, Funk, Blues, Maqam, and Afrobeat. Leading the all-women band "Dijlah" (named after the Tigris River), Tara’s music centers on women's rights and empowerment. Immersed in a Sufi family, she rose to fame at 13 after her appearance on *The Voice* (Middle East) and collaborations with The Iraqi Children's Culture House. Tara has worked with esteemed institutions like the Aga Khan Museum, Koerner Hall, Uma Nota Culture, and The Opera House. Through her art, she aims to foster connection, transcend cultural boundaries, and create transformative experiences for her audience.

Dijlah Band
Dijlah is an all-women band which means the river Tigris in Iraq that features professional multicultural musicians who centered their message around women's rights. With her band, Tara sings in many languages such as Arabic, English, Urdu, Spanish, Turkish, Swahili, and more. Djilah Preformed at multiple venues and festivals including Aga Khan Museum, The City Hall, Koerner Hall, and Small World Center. Also they released there EP MADINA in November 2024.

Tabiba Band
Tabiba means female doctor or healer in Arabic. Tabiba is a brand new multi-generational Arab women’s drum and vocal ensemble made up of world music artists Leen Hamo (Syria/Canada), Maryem Hassan Tollar (Egypt/Canada), Roula Said (Palestine/Canada), and Tara Moneka (Iraq/Canada). Tabiba mixes the colours of their voices, traditions and inspirations to make music medicine.
