BIO
Tara Moneka is a Black Iraqi artist and singer whose music bridges cultures, histories, and traditions. Born in Baghdad and raised in a Sufi family, she blends Afro-Sufi, Arabic, and Swahili influences with Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Blues, Maqam, and Afrobeat. Singing in Arabic, English, Urdu, Spanish, Turkish, and Swahili, she treats music as a universal language. Her journey began at 13 on The Voice Middle East. As the lead of Dijlah, an all-women band, Tara amplifies women’s rights through sound. Her performances connect past and future, East and West, with resilience and purpose.
In August 2026, Tara will release an album BIS, a groundbreaking project that unites both sides of her identity. For the first time, Arabic and African music come together in one body of work—celebrating her roots, her heritage, and the shared rhythm that connects them.
